  1. Silk Test Workbench: Option for hiding disabled steps in a Silk Test Workbench visual test

When debugging a script, it is often useful to disable scripts. At times it would be helpful to be able to "hide disabled steps". This would let you focus your debugging efforts on which steps are functional. This is especially true for more complex scripts.

  2. ability to provide a timeout for script execution/repetetion

    Silktest Workbench:
Timeout for a repetition would be great
Background: My test starts after the software was build and has been deployed into a kind of container. But it lasts some time until the version is available. If the version is not available I have to force another update of this container by clicking on a certain button and look again after 5 mins. This whole process should take no longer than 2 hours. Then the test shall send an error. So currently I have solved it with using labels (24 in summary) but I would like handel it with…

  3. Need support to Customize Debug Logging

It would be better to have a support for logging messages with differnet levels. Like, 'Info', 'Debug', 'Error', 'Fatal', 'warning' etc..In such a way that, I have all types of messages in my script or functions. But, At times, i wanna suppress warnings or debug messages and want to log only certain messages like, errors or Fatal messages etc.. Then, it should work as such.

  4. Qlikview application dashboard graphs not recognized

As per incident #2615669, we are not able to test the classes for dashboard graphs in Qlikview application. Recognize individual objects and get properties like text content to validate, would be a great improvement.

  5. Improve the warnings when deleting disabled steps in Visual Tests

    a. If someone tries to delete a live step that has child code (e.g. 'using' statements), SilkTest Workbench pops up a warning saying that deleting the step may affect the test.

    b. If the same step is disabled for testing and then the user tries to delete it while the step is disabled, Workbench does not warn them that there may have child code that will be affected by deleting this step.

Regardless of why the step was disabled in the first place, if a warning is generated for situation (a) then a warning should also be generated for situation…

  6. Provide a Random function in Visual Test Expression Designer

Please consider providing a Random function that would allow users to generate random values for common input fields such as Zip Code, Contact Number etc; within the Expression Designer when working with Visual Tests. Currently there is no means to accomplish this within Visual Tests; so the random values can only be created and consumed in .Net scripts, or sent back to a calling Visual Test as parameters.

  7. WOULD BE NICE: If pln files can call functions, that would be great especially since doing so results in 0 errors

WOULD BE NICE: If pln files can call functions, that would be great especially since doing so results in 0 errors. Also this helps in not skewing the pass rate.

  8. SilkTest Workbench: Enhance handling of multiple sheets within a single Active Data file in Visual Tests

SilkTest Workbench needs to be able to handle active data files with multiple sheets better than it currently does. I would think that many users would like to create a single active data file with multiple sheets for data. Then be able to specify which sheet/value to use within expression designer and when typing data from an Active Data file into the application.
    1. The expression designer currently does not allow you to specify a sheet within an Active Data file.
    2. When you do a type keys and for the keys parameter specify Active Data there is also no…

  9. Docked FormsWindow do not get their own "With block". They should!

SilkTest Recorder outputs a new "With / End With" block for each Window, FormsWindow or Dialog it encounters. This a great way to separate the chunk of code. Makes it easy to read the test script.

But it won't if the FormsWindow is docked inside another FormsWindow.

For example, this is what gets recorded right now if I click two buttons, first one inside the main FormsWindow and a second one inside a docked FormsWindow:

    With _desktop.FormsWindow("@caption='dcsc03b*")
    .PushToolItem("@automationId='tbDsc03_fctDetails'").Select()
    .PushToolItem("@automationId='tbglst05_fctDetails'").Select()
    End With

It would be much easier to read, maintain and debug if each FormsWindow had separate "With / End With"…

  10. Please add the serial number (sr.no same as excel sheet) in customize columns window

We have n number of visual test test cases automated; it is difficulty count number of Visual test cases automated in the Asset browser.

We have provided for customize columns option in that Name, Project, Creator etc. exists.

Please add the serial number (sr.No same as excel sheet) in customize columns window, User can select/Deselect (Hidden/See) to serial number as they want.
User can easily see the count (number of test cases automated) in the asset browser). This is helpful from end user

  11. SilkTest Workbench: Enhance Results Details

In previous versions of SilkTest Workbench the 'Command Details' in 'Result - Details' would only contain data when some values were actually entered into a textfield, or some other control.

For other activities such as retrieving properties, such as the number of Items in a ListBox control; the behavior was that the value in the Column Details would remain empty. This was good as it allowed you to quickly scan results and find steps where data was entered into the AUT. Please see the following pdf file:

With SilkTest 14 however; this behavior has been changed and now…

  12. Draw a line after a Function

Two things from Test Partner that would be nice in Silk Test
    1. In Test Partner when you typed Sub name or Function and a name it would automatically put in the End Sub or End Function.
    2. Also in Test Partner after (or before) a Sub or Function a Line would automatically be created to show where each Function is at. This would also make reading Functions easier in Silk Test

  13. Not sure why we don't have some basis method built-in by default like split, listempty, etc

Need few methods built into silktest like listempty, split based on pattern, etc.

    More like handy methods dbconnectexcel()

  14. SilkTest Workbench: Default BaseState Execution Option

When recording Workbench Tests; please provide an option that allows the user to set the default behavior, in relation to BaseState execution. Currently this is enabled by default; and can be disabled by modifying the App Configuration settings in the start step of a Visual Test. However it would be better to have the option to change this behavior while recording.

  15. store more object attribute into the object repository

If the object attribute has some minor change, no need to update the object repository or change the code.

  16. SilkTest Workbench: Enhance Export functionality

The Workbench Help documentation states the following in regard to exporting Visual Tests and .Net Scripts:

"Check the 'Export assets associated with Visual tests and .NET Scripts' check box to export every associated asset (including object maps) from the Common project and any other project(s) you specify."

However when this option is enabled the xml file contains all Object Maps from all projects, including those not associated with the exported tests. Support have confirmed that this is currently the expected behavior; but we would like to see this improved so that only those Maps required to run a test are…

  17. Show subfiles that were created from the Properties pane of a script.

In Silk Test Workbench, I would like to see an option to automatically display tabs for sub-files in scripts without having to open them in from the Properties pane. To clarify, by sub-files, I mean Files that were added by right-clicking in the properties pane and clicking Add File.

  18. Workbench: Object Map 'View/Includes' for Scripts as report

it would be nice to see the Include/Included by references for an Object Map as it relates to a Visual Test or .NET Script.

Also, if you could provide and easy report/export of this information as inventory or how asset are allocated. Many times this is good for Object Map maintenance or cleanup

  19. Edit the position of "End Repeat" object for Test Logic/Repetition control

If the user makes a mistake and wishes to edit the "end repeat" index or move the position in the Test Steps section (the Rubik's cube column).

  20. Count all assets in SilkTest Workbench

It is possibly to get the number of versions of a single asset in Workbench by highlighting the script / object and selecting File | Show All Versions. Please extend this so that it will show all versions of a selected asset type in one go e.g. all versions of all Visual Test.
