  3. Asset Export and Import by Command Line

You can transfer assets from one SilkTest Workbench database to another by using SilkTest Workbench's import and export utilities.
To import or export SilkTest Workbench assets, you can either use a wizard (Asset Import wizard and Asset Export wizard which is already implemented) or run the SilkTest Workbench import and export utilities directly from a command line.
For either method, you can customize the import or export of SilkTest Workbench assets depending on your needs and preferences.

  4. "Result comment test step" for SilkTest workbench VB .Net test scripts

At the moment it is only possible to launch a comment into the log. It is only possible to use a verification (Workbench.Verify(1, 1, comment As String)). But this functionality (a verify) should be reserved for (really) important results and verifications.
For other/normal comments SilkTest needs something like result comment test steps like in the Visual Tests or like the log.Comment command (see also TestPartner TTestLog) in the Testpartner VB test scripts.

  5. Possibility to edit scripts in debug mode

Comparing to TestPartner, our need is to be able to edit scripts during the debugging session. It is very important and mandatory for us and for the product utilization as we create our script manually.

  6. Support for Multi AppDomain applications in WPF

This request is to provide support for testing Multi AppDomain applications built in WPF with SilkTest. Currently SilkTest only supports such applications build in WinForms.

TestPartner does support Multi AppDomain applications built in WPF so this request is to add this to SilkTest.

There is a sample application available inhouse.

Request logged via incident 2586390/RPI 1085421

If you open an Object Map in Silk Test Workbench you can select the root node and Ctrl+C. This will copy the contents of the Object Map as XML into the clipboard. Paste it to an text editor, modify it as you like and copy / paste the modified XML back to the Object Map Editor.

  8. SilkTest should provide support or integration with SAP's eCatt Testing tool.

TestPartner did provide support for eCatt integration; and is capable of interacting and saving data to an ANSI or Unicode Database. When using TestPartner within the eCATT user interface, TestPartner assets are retrieved and stored together with the eCATT tests in the SAP/R3 database. Testers also have a central overview of their results: as eCATT and TestPartner test results are merged and shown in the same view in eCATT.

Developers can create integrated test scenarios by passing parameters between eCATT and TestPartner. The integration also allows testers to use data from SAP test data containers in TestPartner. Best of all,…

  9. Debug: stepping into called test scripts without adding breakpoints

Requested through support incident #2583905 (RPI #1085111)

If you have a visual test which calls test scripts it is not possible to step through the called test script using F8 without setting breakpoints in those scripts explicitly. In Testpartner it was not necessary to set those as just one in the visual test and you were able to step through the called test scripts using F8.

  10. Support Wildcards in OpenAgent (ST-Classic & Workbench) to find and select content

To find content in a control (HTMLListbox, JavaTable, JavaList etc) the OpenAgent need exact match of the content to find and/or select it in a control. The old Classic Agent supports wildcards for the select/find functions. Please do implement it for the OpenAgent too. Currently you have to override these functions with own implementation. (in ST-Classic for example).

  11. Support for Thirdparty Grids like DevExpress' XtraGrid

It would be nice if all controls of DevExpress will be supported, especially the Grid XtraGrid. Our first evalution results in the recognition of few controls.

  12. Pass back parameters from Visual Test to Visual Test

Like in Test Scripts Visual Tests should have "Output Parameters" to be able to pass back paramters/information to the calling Visual Tests.
At the moment (STW14) it is only possible to do this by setting/getting global variables to exchange information. The sub-Visual Test sets the global variable and the calling-Visual Test recieves this parameter/information with a "Get" of the global variable. That is not very comfortable and does not support modular programming...

  13. Comment/Uncomment Block of code in Test scripts in SilkTest Workbench 13

Like in the TestPartner IDE a function/button is needed to comment and uncommend blocks of code.

  14. Support for action recording on Google Chrome and Firefox

provide action recording support on Google chrome and Firfox. IE9/10 is not able to render HTML5 apps properly but those are well supported by Google Chrome and Firefox.
So in future there may be time web apps will support only Chrome and FF, so to test such application easily silk should provide support for action recording on Chrome and FF.

  15. Query Method/Function parameters for DataType

Provide a way to determine the datatype of the parameters/args to a function or method. When trying to create a data-driven keyword test framework, we would like to not require the users to pass in the data types on the fly. Any way to programmatically get the datatypes of args like in this function:

myFunction (STRING sString1, RECORD rRecord1, etc...)

We are using ArgListCall to pass in the name of the function and list of parameters to the test harness, but this does not provide the datatypes of the arguments.

  17. Workbench: Provide single option to switch Browser configuration for Driver Visual Tests

When using a Driver Visual Test to run a number of child tests against the Browser; when you need to change the Browser configuration to execute the tests against different browsers, it is necessary to access each test and change the Browser setting for the app configuration. This can be a tedious process if you have a scenario where a Driver runs 25+ child tests; and the settings have to be changed several times a day.
The best workaround is to maintain multiple copies of the Driver and Child tests; each one pointed to a specific browser configuration, but is…

  18. auto-unlock database after SilkTest Worbench-Crash

Sometimes SilkTest Worbench crashes during execution some automated tests. In this case the database is sill locked by the user and machine were SilkTest is crashed. After restarting SilkTests Workbench and connecting the database, SilkTest reports that the database is sill locked by user XY and machine ZZ. At the moment i have to start the Database Maintenance Tool to unlock the database manually. It would be cool if SilkTest recognize that the current user and machine that trys to connect to the database is the same user and machine which are currently locking the database it shouldt ask the…

  19. javafx

My firm is presently evaluating another product. I'm not sure they will vote for Silktest knowing that it doesn't support JavaFX. Our application start to use JavaFX.

  20. OpenAgent - captureBitmap(...) should store screenshot alternatively in ".jpg"-format

captureBitmap(...) stores a screenshot in ".bmp"-Format. A ".bmp"-file allocates several MB disk space.
Storing (alternatively) in ".jpg"-Format would be "smarter".
