Silk Test Feature Request

  1. InvalidPropertyNameException for SapContextMenu.getTooltip()

    Silk4J Premium has a SapContextMenu where you can call getTooltip(). This throws a InvalidPropertyNameException with the message "The property 'Tooltip' is not supported for SAP."

    You might consider changing the implemenation to return an empty string or document the fact that this can throw such an exception.

  2. Please add array variables type to Silktest Workbench - Visual Tests.

    This would be helpful when reading data from an Active Data file, or working with large amounts of data from the application. The usage of a loop to read data and store into an array variable is greatly enhanced, as opposed to only having a single variable to use, in current versions. This is available of course in .NET interface side, but requires much more knowledge/ability to apply.

  3. Split the Setup into smaller pieces

    Today, the Setup is 958 MB in size. This probably includes everything from Silk Classic over Silk .NET through Silk4J. I only need a small part of that (Silk4J in my case).

    Would it be possible to provide the individual parts as separate downloads? I guess it rarely happens that anyone uses all three types in parallel.

  4. SilkTest Workbench: Linking of Function Modules of Referenced Scripts

    Actual Scenario:

    Whenever we try to create testscripts in Modular framework. Different Functions are created in 10 different scripts respectively.When a script reference is made the functions must have a hyperlink for the location whereitexists

    Expected Scenario:
    A link must be present to the referenced functions on Hover.(For Example: In Eclipse.. Holding ctrl and click on a function goes to that function definition)

  5. We need SilkTest customized report feature

    SilkTest(include Workbench, 4J, 4Net) has not generate original results reports. Now, we have to create an image capture and test log by writing additional code.
    But it is very costly work.

    HP UFT can create make an origial execution report with thier API's. We need same fueature in Silk Test.

    The following is a Just Idea.

    - Convert/Switch to a TrueLog from SilkTest Workbench execution results.
    - Export to PNG files and XML formatted files from TrueLogExplorer.

    We will be able to freely create their own reports, Once these are possible.

  6. Workbench: Object Map 'View/Includes' for Scripts as report

    it would be nice to see the Include/Included by references for an Object Map as it relates to a Visual Test or .NET Script.

    Also, if you could provide and easy report/export of this information as inventory or how asset are allocated. Many times this is good for Object Map maintenance or cleanup

  7. Request for Enhanced Object Map functionality

    Due to the large number of controls in my application under test; it was necessary to split the Object Map into smaller sections, as it became difficult to locate controls. However when I record actions against new controls; the new object is always inserted into the same Object Map, which is not usually where I want it to reside. I would like to see the current behavior enhanced to allow me to choose which Object Map I want to use in this scenario. This would make it much easier to maintain my maps, and save me the effort of copying…

  8. ObjectMap usage

    the objectmap currently is just a map and replaces the locators (xpath) with a more readable name. but it is necessary to find the object.
    it would be very coll if i get a object from the objectmap and can execute some actions on it (like click()).

  9. Add a detach method for single applications instead of all applications

    Currently, the only way to reload Open Agent to grab any changes to locators involves Desktop.detachAll() and Desktop.attach(testApp.exe).
    This involves keeping track of any other applications that are open and re-attaching them as well. Please add a Desktop.detach(testApp.exe) method to avoid removing all applications.

  10. Improve documentation for Java

    Look at the documentation of http://documentation.microfocus.com/help/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.borland.silktest.workbench.doc%2Flangref%2FSAP%2FGetItemTextMethodSapTree_ref.html

    What is "We recommend using SAPTree.GetNodeText() instead of SAPTree.GetItemText(), because it is easier to use."
    Well it's maybe easier to use, but provides a totally different functionality.

    A better description for this would be
    /**
    * Gets the text of a specific row (identified by the node key) and column (identified by the column name).
    * @see de.kaba.framework.eacm.silk.ISilkTree#getColumnNames()
    * @see de.kaba.framework.eacm.silk.ISilkTree#getNodeKeys()
    * @param nodeKey Key of the node, e.g. from getNodeKeys()
    * @param itemName Column name, e.g. from getColumnNames()
    */

    This applies to many methods I have seen so far. The documentation is really…

  11. SilkTest Workbench: Enhance Export functionality

    The Workbench Help documentation states the following in regard to exporting Visual Tests and .Net Scripts:

    "Check the 'Export assets associated with Visual tests and .NET Scripts' check box to export every associated asset (including object maps) from the Common project and any other project(s) you specify."

    However when this option is enabled the xml file contains all Object Maps from all projects, including those not associated with the exported tests. Support have confirmed that this is currently the expected behavior; but we would like to see this improved so that only those Maps required to run a test are…

  12. Provide more information with a KeyNotFoundException error message

    Currently the error message states 'The given key was not present in the dictionary'. It would be useful for the error message to name the key and the error line.

  13. Combine SAP scripting functionality with native control functionality

    The Silk4J SAP class library is a simple call forwarding of the functionality provided by SAP scripting. This should be enhanced by adding the functionality of native windows.

    Example: on a native window, you have the typeKeys() method. See http://documentation.microfocus.com/help/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.borland.silktest.silk4net.doc%2Flangref%2Fcommon%2FTypeKeysMethodIKeyable_ref.html

    It works on SAP windows if you don't have a Premium license. This functionality is gone(!) when you buy a Premium license, because the SapWindow class does not provide the typeKeys() method any more.

    All SAP classes should provide native class functionality (e.g. from common class reference)

  14. optimize clarity of asset browser in silk test

    When using Silk test in conjunction with Silk Central it is necessary to have an good clarity over your projects especially when the amount of files increases more and more.
    Silk Central uses a good to handle file management to group projects into folder and/or subfolders, which gives the user the possibility to structure his files as he requires.
    Please add this file management structure also in Silk Test asset browser to make the dealing with huge projects more user friendly and comfortable

  15. Functionality which retrieves the hostname and IE version

    When running .NET scripts remotely on machine running Open Agent it would be nice to have a feature where the Remote hostname is recorded into the results. Also, when testing different version of IE Browsers it would be nice to have functionality that could return the version of IE information to the results log,

  16. Silk Test should have a file comparison capability in verification feature

    HP UFT 11.5 introduced a new capability which file comparison function. This feature are able to compare both 2 files contents like a PDF, Word and Text. We want to use this feature on Silk Test.

  17. When in debug mode - SilkTest always shows the local variables window - make this optional

    When seting a breakpoint and running a .Net script in debug mode - SilkTest always shows the local variables window.
    The customer would like to have this as an optional window - where they can select if they want to see this or not when debugging. (SI 2780347)

  18. Set a local variable into the Properties "Application Configuration->Config 1->URL" in Silk Workbench

    When there is a Silk Workbench project with multiple visual tescases, if their URL changes we must change the URL for each test because it's hardcoded. Would be nice to have a variable for URL that we could extract from an Active Data, for example.

  19. Provide a GetColumnName method for ActiveData class

    Currently if a user checks the "use first row as a header" checkbox for an activedata asset then there is no way to find out column names within a .Net script. It would be useful to have a GetColumnName method where the user could pass in the column number and have the column name returned.

  20. Show subfiles that were created from the Properties pane of a script.

    In Silk Test Workbench, I would like to see an option to automatically display tabs for sub-files in scripts without having to open them in from the Properties pane. To clarify, by sub-files, I mean Files that were added by right-clicking in the properties pane and clicking Add File.
