  1. Update test order for an execution plan that has been started

It is possible to add tests to an execution plan that has been launched. However, if you reorder the tests in the execution plan, the new order is not taken into consideration.
Please allow the new order to be apply to the execution plan after it has been launched.

  2. Add a checkbox to run tests with status N/V (N/A)

Please add a checkbox to run tests with status N/V (N/A in english?)

    http://documentation.microfocus.com/help/topic/com.microfocus.sctm.doc/SCTM-2CE89FAC-RUNDIALOGBOX-REF.html

At the moment I can only run tests with status failed. If I add a new test to the plan it can not be executed. I have to run the complete plan again.

A listbox where I can (un)select tests would also help me a lot.

  3. Please document the behaviors of specifying "Epic" and "Story" issue types for using Jira requirement integration

When specifying "Epic" and "Story" in a Jira requirement integration, they present some special behaviors:

    A) When specifying "Epic", the integration imports all "Epics" as well as their child "Stories" of the target Jira project into Silk Central and become Silk requirements.
    B) When specifying "Stories", the integration imports all "Stories" without parents of the target Jira project into Silk Central and become Silk requirements.
    C) For the "Stories" of the target Jira project, if their parents, such as "Epics", are in other Jira projects, they won't be imported into Silk Central.

Please put this piece of knowledge in Silk…

  4. Provide a mechanism to manage/control notification emails sent to SuperUsers.

Provide a mechanism to manage/control notification emails sent to SuperUsers.

PROBLEM: We have a global company with many products managed by SilkCentral. Each product has a SuperUser to perform the work of creating projects, registering new users, etc. All super users receive emails when any change is made to any user account. The SuperUser for product ABC in our Romainia office does not NEED to know that a user working on product XYZ in Ohio has been updated.

PROPOSAL: Provide the ability to manage these notifications by product group, project or other criteria.

Ongoing review of the administration area of Silk Central – with review of email notifications.

With the introduction of Clients within 12.1 this allows for there to be seperate administrators for each client and only the superusers within the clients projects will be notified of activities.

We will add you comments to our backlog and the existing user story.

  5. Enable the Export of Automated Test Steps

In SCTM 12.0 it is possible to import/export Manual Test Definitions to and from Excel, I would like to see this functionality extended to allow Users to export at least the defined Steps for automated test definitions; as these are not included in the exported files when they exist, and there is no viable workaround available.

Alternatively we could workaround this problem if you provide functionality to allow the conversion of automated to Manual Test Definitions; as presently this is only possible in reverse.

  6. Export tests with inherited test attributes

When exporting a test tree into excel, if a test attribute is set at test level, it is shown in excel, if it is set at parent folder level (i.e. inherited), then it is not shown in excel. It is not understandable from an end user point of view not to see his test attributes in the exported file because they were inherited from parents folders.

Please can you provide more information on type of export you are looking at doing. If you apply a test attribute at a folder level and therefore inherited to children and then filter applied using attribute – you are then able to go to the test grid and perform a export to excel using the filtered list. in this export to excel you have the list of all test which met the criteria – within this list the attibute will be show with the parent value. Please can you validate the issue which you are experiencing and provide details on use case of exactly what you are looking to do.

    many thanks
    _____
please can you confirm what you are looking to do with the test in excel and reason that the attributes would be needed

  7. Import test results from Excel file

We would like to import old test results that have been created without SCTM in order to create reports with historical statistics inside of SCTM.

During the import of the old test results SCTM should:
    * create unknown test cases automatically.
    * create one new execution plan that is linked to all executed test cases

  8. Filtering for data-driven children (part1)

    Filtering for data-driven children (part1)
    (see also Forum entry http://community.microfocus.com/borland/test/silk_central/f/31/t/11625.aspx)

Currently it is not possible to easily assign only child nodes of data driven tests to a test cycle. Filtering for them is always also finding the parent nodes.
The grid view can display the column "Node Type" which would allow at least direct filtering in the list box after dd_parent or dd_instance.
Please add this column to the test selection list box of the manual execution planning screen and I guess it makes sense to have it also available in the test assignment screen.

    thanks

  9. Administrator (admin/sysadmin login) can Broadcast Messages

Administrator (admin/sysadmin) can broadcast messages to all users via the Custom Information panel or another new panel across all projects. This would be useful for maintenance tasks.

With Silk Central Instance Administration you are now able to put silk central into Maintenance mode which will then allow a message to be displayed to a user when they attempt to login – this will allow notification to use that the system is in maintenance.

Broadcast messages from administrator aspect still under consideration

  10. Filtering for data-driven children (part2)

    (see also Forum entry http://community.microfocus.com/borland/test/silk_central/f/31/t/11625.aspx)

Currently it is not possible to create filters that will find only the children of data-driven tests. Please add the property "Node type" (like the column "Node Type" in the grid view) to the filter criteria.

    thanks

  11. Enable grouping of (manual) tests into logical (executable) groups in a manual testing cycle

We are currently using execution plans to group and plan tests that belong logically together.
With the introduction of manual testing cycles, we had great hopes, but unfortunately, cycles lack some key features in order to be able to use them in a meaningful way.

In order to be able to get an overview of my tests, and plan my test efforts efficiently; As a test lead, I would like to be able to group tests that belong together within a testing cycle. This grouping can be valid for a longer or shorter period of time (project scope or just…

Please Review the manual execution planning module as this will allow you to within the assigned tests within a test cycle be able to sort / group for example against your configurations.

The test which are assigned to a manual tester within the manual test assigned to me panel on the dashboard can then be grouped according to user requirements.

  12. Planned date and time of execution for every entry in a manual execution planning

It should be possible to set a planned execution date and time for every test case in a test cycle, to enable the comparation between planned and actual execution times.

  13. Abort current execution in "current runs" page/tab

It would be nice to have the option to cancel a current test execution in "current runs" page/tab and not only under tracking.

  14. Improve IM web service

Currently integration with other life-cycle management tools to IM must be accomplished via Java API. It is typical in this day and age that issues must be reflected in other lifecycle tools such as those used in development during agile/scrum projects. At these stages it is critical that issues are tracked from both a development and test perspective. The current IM web service does not allow for querying current issues (bizarrely) although does allow you to get basic information for an issue. This doesnt include any custom fields; in short the current web service is woefully inadequate. I have a…

  15. LDAP Double validation is requiered in many Services/Companies and it should be added

Some companies have a special requierement in the LDAP validaion process which consists in an additional validation onece the single bind is done.

The LDAP server must verify in an indepentent branch for the specific application that the user exists there.

  16. Ability to have configurations that are the combination of selections

Currently in Manual Test Planning, if you want to select configurations, you must have each configuration entry with all the info needed.

For instance, I want to test a certain feature in a certain OS with a certain language and version of IE.

In this case I must have a configuration that represents the exact combination, something like "Win7|English|IE9".

This forces me to enter in the configurations list all possible combinations I want to test.

It would be great if I can enter in the configurations list all the values separately, like all the Oss, all the Languages, all the…

  17. Locked cell height in offline manual testing excel sheet

    (coming from Wiki entry http://community.microfocus.com/borland/test/silk_central/f/31/t/11584.aspx)

We have to perform some tests in offline mode (tests are being performed on the road without network connection). In principle this feature is available in Silk Central. The problem is that some of our tests have a very long description. As the downloaded Excel sheet is protected, it does not allow to adjust the height of the rows. Only the width of the column can be adjusted, but this is not enough to see the complete text in the description cell.

t would be nice if there will be a way to see…

  18. Support import of tests from "Excel" spreadsheets created from Google spreadsheets

My company uses Google Docs as the corporate tool set. Microsoft Excel is no longer available for most employees.

PROBLEM: SilkCentral (15.5) can not import Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheets that were created from Google Doc spreadsheets. Note: Google Docs allows you to convert a Google spreadsheet to Microsoft Excel. The resulting file has a .xlsx suffix but is not a "true" MS Excel spreadsheet. SCTM CAN NOT import it !

The following error occurs when attempting to import tests from an Excel (.xlsx) file converted from Google Doc:
Unexpected import processing error for Excel file 'TestImport.xlsx', mapping file was 'OfficeImportMappingFiles/testplan/1/jimTestImport.xml':
    java.lang.NullPointerException

  19. Different view/modification rights across different requirements levels

We would need to set different rights accross different requirements levels.
Leaf requirements may indeed be defined/modified/ deleted by end users but top levels may be used as requirements main structure, and thus should not be amended.

  20. Passing parameters between Manual Test steps

A customer suggested the ability to add user defined parameters to a manual test which can be entered, stored and retrieved during a manual test. This would also provide a history of values used during manual testing.
