  4. Support SQL Server 2012

TestPartner 6.3.1 currently supports SQL Server versions up to 2008 SP1; which is a problem for us, as our infrastructure is planning to upgrade us soon to SQL Server 2012. Please consider providing support for this version in a future release or patch.

  5. Ability to write to an activedata excel spreadsheet without having to enter dummy data

Currently if you want TP to write data into an excel spreadsheet (via activedata), you have to populate the spreadsheet with dummy data to make the row visible to TP. Having to manually enter this dummy data defeats the purpose of having an automation test tool. Can this feature please be developed for the next release of TP. Maybe the option of having a "insert row" command.

  6. Visual Studio uses a standard Win32 tree control and attaches a WPFMenu to it(Context Menu). This is not currently supported by TestPartner,

Automation of the Visual Studio IDE is not explicitly supported with TestPartner however we need to be able to navigate many of the menus.

To deal withcontext menus, popupmenus, the TP doesnot support and need to use low level actions which are not feasible to use.
Please consider this and do the needful.

    Regards,
    Sahana Hiremath

  7. Berrer handling of Playback Error result type.

Allow to filter/sort results by Playback Error result type and fail overall test result if Playback Errors occurs. There could be also additional tab that contains Playback Errors near to Passed and Failed tabs.

  8. Add Warning Output Capabilities to TestPartner

When a script is ran, I'd like to be able create checks that output results as Pass, Fail, or Warning. The "Warning" option allows me to prioritize viewing results. If the script outputs Failure, then it is something I have to review immediately. But if I can output warnings, then I'll be able to prioritize and review when time permits.

Ability to identify the different font of text (e.g. red or black, Bold or not, underline or not), or at least have a unique identifier to differentiate the fonts that are recognized in “Text Check”
    Thank you very much!

  10. Abitlity to handle non-printable characters in Visual Tests

In the expression editor of Visual Tests there should be the ability to handle non-printable characters. For example to Find or Replace characters like Tabs or CarriageReturns in local variables. Those characters are very often relevant in captured text sequences. And must be identified or eleminated in those cases.

  11. Stop timer - add run time in the "Result Detail" of the run result

Like in the SilkTest results it would be more comfortable to add the run time in ther "Result Detail" of the "Stop timer x" step in the result set. For example: "The timer ran for 0.125 seconds" At the moment you have to use the tpLastReturnValue variable to get access to the timer result (time) and need another step to report the timer result into the result set.

  12. Hovering over tabs with drop down lists

When an application has tabs that contain a drop down list, TP won't recognize the drop down list unless you manually position your cursor over the tab.

  13. Ability to edit text on a text check

It would be useful to be able to edit text on a text check. For instance, if just 1 value on a text check is incorrect, you may wish to save that check as expected but amend that 1 value to be the correct value.
N.B. When we used QARun we were able to do this.

  14. Fix text check passing when it should fail: For example, if 3fields on a screen show the value 12.34 and another 3 fields show 0.00, if one

Fix text check passing when it should fail: For example, if 3fields on a screen show the value 12.34 and another 3 fields show 0.00, if one of the first fields changes to 0.00, the check still passes.
N.B. This has been raised as incident 2461194.

  15. Creating a check for the entire file with multiple pages

Our tools generate 100's of reports with multiple pages for each report. In order to create a check on these files, we create a check for each page. The problem is, maintaining these checks are cumbersome. What I would like to suggest is creating a file check on entire file.

  16. When a visual test or test script name changes and if they were used in some other test script or a visual test, TP should recognise

When a visual test or test script name changes and if they were used in some other test script or a visual test, TP should recognise automatically instead of editing every script.

This is also same with Checks. When a check name is renamed, it should automatically should change in all scripts where it is getting used.

  18. Enhance interaction with Excel

2 items - First, sessions of Excel are often left open when issues arise in running TP scripts which the user must close with Task Manager. Second, TP will hang on to an image of an Excel file causing the user to have to reattach in order to run same file name but with new data.

  19. .NET 4 Support for adding .NET References

Currently you can't add a reference (via the tools menu '.Net references...' menu item) to .NET 4 dlls, which severly limits the testing ability for .NET 4 Applications. This shouldn't be much work to add since if you 'hack' around with a .config file for WrapperGen2.exe telling it to use .NET 4 then you can get TestPartner to work, but proper full support would be ideal

TestPartner has support for WPF but it is possible there are some controls that are not supported. We will not be expanding this support. Silk Test has a more complete support for WPF controls and should be considered for WPF based applications. 9/21/12 – Clarification on previous announcement. In some cases, Test Partner users have access to Silk Test to use in parallel, please contact your sales rep for details.
